strange indeed
This is a strange outcome, since most of my answers were to the affect of not liking the commercialism of the holiday, and despising those damn carols. Anyway, at least it got the pagan part correct, but I don't agree with the part about singing with glee. You are 'Deck the Halls'! Let's be honest, it isn't Christmas you are celebrating, is it? In fact, you know full well that there were no shepherds in the fields in December, and that the date of Christmas was put at midwinter specifically to coincide with the older celebrations of Yule and the birth of Mithras. An unashamed Pagan, you take great glee in the number of carols referring to holly, evergreens and Winter's end, and will sing them with gusto. You know where they really came from. And you do enjoy the seasonal celebrations, regardless of their name... A merry Yule to you! What Christmas Carol are you? brought to you by Quizilla | | Tuesday, November 30th, 2004 | | 12:56 pm |
home, sick
Took this quiz and found it lacking. Apparently it found me lacking as well. Take the quiz: "WHAT RELIGION BESTS SUITS YOU?"
Category UnknownYou don't fit into any of the above categories, so perhaps before you get angry or confused, check what other religion(s) you scored the highest on. For example, you might be a Christian-Pagan, or a Discordian-Wiccan. Just use a bit of logic. However, according to this test, you're simply 100% YOU. You don't fit into any of the world's boxes. Also found this quote at a nudist website, and thought it was relative to paganism and going skyclad. Maybe someone else would disagree, but it just made sense to me. "Human beings to me are as much a part of nature as trees or birds, and the unclothed body expresses this belongingness directly and powerfully." - Wynn Bullock | | Sunday, November 28th, 2004 | | 9:14 pm |

Taboo
Back when I lived in Maryland, I used to go to a club in downtown Baltimore. It was an alternative dance club with a special theme on weekends. That theme used to be known as "Bound" and dealt with bondage and fetish concepts. But now it is called "Taboo" and it is still the same. For more info about this club, click on the link below. Besure to check out the "Taboo" photo galleries to get an idea of what it was like. However, keep in mind that nothing compares to the actual experience of being there.
Anyway, I have been sick since wednesday afternoon and my thanksgiving was miserable because of it. I actually had to skip out on attending thanksgiving dinner with my girlfriend and her family. In fact I have spent maybe a total of 15 minutes with her this whole weekend because I didn't want to give her my cold. It's finally breaking and I am beginning to feel better, which is good because if I were to miss work tomorrow then I wouldn't get paid for the holiday. Anyway, such is life. | | 4:33 pm |
quizilla time
Well, out of boredom I went and took a few quizilla tests. Here are some of the results. Which pagan religion am I? Well, according to quizilla......... Wicca Wicca is interpreted simply as the nature and fertility religion of pre-Christian Europe. Most worship only the mother goddess, within her tripple aspect (Maiden, Mother, Crone).Increasingly, Wicca draws from many pagan traditions, with the result that the distinctions between witchcraft, occultism, neo-paganism, and various strands thereof have become blurred. Which Pagan Religion Are You? brought to you by QuizillaAnd, which wiccan denomination am I? Well according to quizilla........... You are An Eclectic. More Traditional Wiccans and Witches may laugh at you, but you just do whatever suits your fancy. Chalice? Why not use a Dixie cup? You're likely to mold together different practices, but watch out! Your picking and choosing is offensive to some cultures. What Wiccan Are You? brought to you by QuizillaFunny, I always just thought of myself as a simple pagan, not necessarily a wiccan. | | Tuesday, November 23rd, 2004 | | 8:48 pm |

blood work
Well, I went to the doctor today, and they want me to come back tomorrow to have some blood drawn for a diabetes test. I have had the symptoms for diabetes for about a month now. If I do have it, I hope it is minor and can be controlled with diet(I don't want to have to play with needles for the rest of my life). Anyway, let's have a big "WOO HOO!!!" for those Red Sox. It is great that they finally overcame those damn Yankees. A message to the Yankees........"HA HA YOU CHOKED BIG TIME!". Bye for now. rare book found
As I stated in a previous entry, my life isn't very exciting, that's why I haven't updated this journal in over a week. Anyway, I found a rare book over the weekend at a used book store in Boise. It is a Dr.Seuss book that was written for adults. It is called The Seven Lady Godivas. This particular copy is a first edition re-issue of the original 1939 release. It was re-issued in 1987(a limited edition release). I looked it up on ebay to find that the re-issue(the copy I have) is selling for about $30 and up. Some as high as $50-$60. And if you have a signed(by Dr Seuss) and numbered copy, it is going for $175 and up. Furthermore, if you have an original 1939 copy, it is worth $500 or more on the used book market. I only paid $5 for mine(what a steal). Anyway, I called in sick to work today, so here I am at home, online, and feeling like shit. Such is life. clothing is bad
"Warning - Clothing has been shown to cause extreme pychological dependence. Wear it at your own risk." Express your independence - get naked! Remove your clothes and look at yourself in the mirror to see what a human is supposed to look like. Remember, if we were meant to be naked, we would have been born that way. back to work (yuk!!!)
Well the 4-day weekend came to an end this morning when I had to get out of bed to return to work. It wasn't a bad day, but it would have been much nicer to have slept-in. I did get good news though. I got a raise. Yes that's right, I survived the 90 day probationary period and received my first raise. Woo-hoo for me. But, on the down side, I have to work on my birthday. Why can't birthdays be automatic holidays for everyone? Oh well, at least they are paying me more now. Don't know what else to write. rain sticks and The Lorax
I bougt a rain stick yseterday at an outdoor sale. Now I have to do some research to learn more about the magickal and cultural history of rain sticks. I also picked up an awesome tie-dye t-shirt at the big sale in Sumpter. On the front, it says "I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees." And of course, it has a picture of the Dr.Suess character. On the back it says "Leave only footprints." And there are several bare footprints across the shirt just below the words. The envionmentalist attitude of the Lorax works well with my pagan beliefs and as I prefer to go barefoot as much as possibe, the message on the back just spoke to me. I bought it without hesitation. more on t*witches
Ok, so I have read over half of the book that was mentioned in my last journal entry, and I find it to be interesting if nothing else. It is not very accurate as far as terminology is concerned(it refers to male witches as warlocks), but otherwise, it has not been degrading towards witches. However, the authors depict witchcraft/magick in a similar manner as Hollywood(unrealistic special effects like those in the harry Potter stories). At least the main characters (the twin witches that were separated at birth) are shown in a positive light as the "good guys" with decent, loving relationships with their families. My opinion so far? This book would be better if it was more factual about witchcraft, but let's face it, it could be much worse. I think it will be ok for my girlfriend's daughter to read this book when she is a little older and can better understand the difference. Current Mood: tired |
